Mapping your world
Bird’s eye view of your daily journey
This activity involves making a drawing that – even if it is drawn at a very small scale – could extend well beyond the edges of a single page!
You will need:
Sheets of paper
Sticky tape or masking tape
HB pencils
Sharpeners and erasers
Watercolour or pencil crayons
From your knowledge, familiarity and memory of the places you spend most time in and travel through most often, draw a bird’s eye view of the entire route from your school’s neighbourhood to the neighbourhood of your home. Draw it not as a map, but as a picture, as if seen from a helicopter, trying to include every physical structure that you can remember. Use your knowledge of perspective! As you need to extend, in any direction, add more paper with sticky tape or masking tape. The final work might not be a rectangle or square – this does not matter. How will you display or present this complex image?
